Back in Uganda 2013, since arriving back in Northern Uganda in May I’ve spent most of the time in Pader District in the trading centre of Rackoko which is the junction of the Lira- Kitgum Road and the Gulu – Awere Road.

Its is extremely difficult to post anything from here as the internet is very, very slow and WordPress doesn’t like it and frequently there is no power anyway. I now hope in the time I have left here to be able to post some insights so do read , view my pics and enjoy…

This region is at the centre of the war/rebellion  by the Joseph Kony led LRA that extended over 20 years ending around 2007. Awere was the home area of Kony so it is an honour to live with and talk to the locals about their experiences in Internally Displaced Peoples Camps (IDPC’s) and how they are trying to rebuild life since returning to their land.

This area was the home of the LRA leader Joseph Kony and the hut is near to Awere Mountain that Kony frequented in the 20 year rebellion in Northern Uganda that created a large amount of disturbance and upheaval for the Acholi people. We can all do a bit to help them get their feet back on the ground.

6th November I’m off to Africa and specifically Uganda to meet up with my Danish friend Berit Lund to photograph the families she has been sponsoring, the unpacking of the 9th!! 40 foot container of goods Berit has gathered in Denmark and shipped to Uganda, children in schools and much more!! After 3 weeks in Uganda I’m heading home through China with nearly two weeks in Guangzhou and Shanghai. There will be a couple of days in Dubai and Doha on the way!

Here we are rolling along in the week. Busy creating new business cards today ready for Toast Martinborough, the airshow and whatever else is on this weekend!!
